Business Ethics Class Analysis

Before taking this class, I knew ethics was an important factor when doing business in addition to one’s personal life. Living morally was always something I take pride in. Taking this class has expanded my understanding to the layers of what it means to be ethically moral. Now in the last week of this class, I believe a company/organization’s foundation should be built off being ethically moral. Week to week, the journal entries helped me realize what stood out about that certain week. Week one, the ethics equals legal theory since I thought about different times where the theory was easily debunked. Working at a university, as I oversee assigning students to dorms on campus, I must go off the waiting list. The list goes in order by a first …show more content…
In sports, one can compare two different teams; a winning team and a losing team. I used Lebron James as an example since his impact was easily noticed the way he changed the Cavaliers ethical culture from a losing one to a winning one. Coming in as a losing team, he saw that there was always garbage around in the locker room. Players would show up to practice late, in addition to casually going through the motions of practice instead of putting 100% effort. Turning around and doing the little things, impacted the climate of the locker room resulting the Cavs accomplishing their goal of being NBA Champions. (Trevino, 2014, p. Chapter …show more content…

This promotes bad ethical behavior. Leading by example shows that the leader truly mean what they say when they express being ethical. (Trevino, 2014, pp.

Ethics is the broad theme of ISLLC Standard 5. The activities related to this standard provided me with a means to reflect on my personal code of ethics, explore ethics from the perspective of a district official, and to hear others’ perspectives of ethics in the school organization. The first activity allowed me to interview Richard Stiverson, a school board member, regarding his code of ethics. The interview was insightful and did not veer far from what I consider to be ethical. With regard to this activity, I was able to grasp the notion that ethical behavior is paramount to building and maintaining trust in an organization.…

Even though my viewpoint is the same, I feel that I have a much better understanding of the concepts that support the way I feel. I believe that throughout these 8 weeks, this class aided in building a strong foundation of ethical principles.
