We all do play the role of a leader as profoundly said by our module tutor. I can confidently claim that I am a leader now.
The module on Ethics and Leadership Development which was a core and a very important one which had great potentials to impart from its syllabus really boosted me claiming myself confidently that I am a leader now. The learnings from each angles and forms had given me greater meaning than just learning. The learnings from this particular module made me self-confident in doing whatever I face to produce myself as leader. Various types of leadership qualities and theories were critically examined and their relevance to oneself with it is another great learnings. Relevant theories relating to leadership had been covered and

To me in simple term I have felt that a leader is none other than an ordinary human being who can influence and convince to achieve certain goals. A leader can give the same level of satisfaction that he/she gets in whatever he does. It is untrue to say that he/she is a leader if one can just influence and listen to him. I don’t deny that there are many personal traits and other forms of qualities where a leader had been defined. Different leaders have different attributes where the followers believe in. A leader should have good social network and the people in the network influences the most. My definition of a leader was very vague however, by now I have come to know the greater meaning of a leader once I have listened to many presentations and by reading many materials. When I realize the definition of a leader I felt I have the quality of a leader by now. Just to share one incidence I have coordinated a badminton match for MBA students in the indoor at one point of time. The tournament went very well. We had great time by coming together. The togetherness was fully made with the presence of all those who participated as well who came for watching the match. I was amused actually but haven’t felt I have played the role of leader. They have followed me. This is one simple reflection and realization of mine where I have acted and played the role of a …show more content…
Apart from the syllabus most of the presenters bring different but relevant examples in the class which really was a fascinating learning that took place. Once I play the role of a leader the immediate and one for sure I will do is to listen first. As I have gained many insights from hearing stories I also would prefer and would like to ask my friends and colleagues to share their stories. On my own part I would disseminate the information not directly but in the form of interesting structure like a story where one would motivate and listen carefully to fulfil both our wishes. If one is happy the values, ethics, rules and regulations shall be automatically respected and followed. The whole attitudes towards working only will be changed. Human beings are the basic instrument for happening everything. They think and interact, imagine and plan, shares and decides. Organisation is made of human beings. Therefore, the basis of human understanding must be

Taking a role in something that will help even one person can mean so much and give you greater things in return. Just knowing that you helped and taught someone to make them a better person should be a wonderful accomplishment. A leader does not mean you have to go and do something outrageous; the little things mean more than the big once in a while.…

According to vocabulary.com, a leader is the person in charge of a group, who is able to convince other people to follow their lead. However, I strongly believe that a leader is much more than that. A great leader is a role model that “inspires” confidence in other people and the person who motivates their peers to put their best foot forward and achieve overall success by working together.…

Leadership is defined as being a leader of an organization or a group of individuals. To me a leader is someone who will give their all to accommodate someone in obligation of assistance. A leader doesn’t give up on hard task and pushes to be an example for their peers. I have demonstrated my leadership in and out of school by being a responsible, honest and hardworking individual, who expresses empathy to help those who didn’t think they could achieve a goal on their own.…

There is not one set definition of what a leader is, there are generalizations for a set definition but a leader means different things for every person on this Earth. Leadership can be exhibited in various ways. Learning to be a leader takes many years of experience and is always a learning process. The persons that I chose to be my ten leaders are individuals who I think have had enough experience to become the great leaders that they are today. Most of them have made such a huge impact in their careers to the point that they are considered legends at what they do. What I envision a leader I see a person who is out spoken, someone who is trying to accomplish change in something that they believe in and it is important to them or their community. They are a positive influence to people in their lives and other who look up to them if they are in the public eye. All of the leaders that I have chosen I have looked up to, respected their work ethic or what they stood for as an individual.…

Used lightly in today’s society, the word “leader” is commonly used to refer to a person who comes out and directs a group to take action in some way, shape, or form. By this definition, a good leader would be one whose directions land the group he or she is directing above all other groups. But in certain instances, like the ones of Odysseus and Harvey Milk, a leader isn’t always someone who is trying to be greater than those around them, they’re simply just people who make it their life mission to make the quality of the lives of those around them better. According to Dictionary, the definition of leadership is the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group. With almost all…

When many think of a leader they think of a person that commands directions for a group. My definition, however, is a little different, as a leader I like to show the way by example rather than authorities order. Along with being a leader I also strive to be respectable by having strong core values and not being afraid to stand up for what I believe in, despite how many followers I have, as long as I am acting with honesty and integrity.…

This will allow them to feel most comfortable working with me. It will also create an environment where they are willing and motivated to work and eventually grow as a leader. I will do this by taking each person’s individual characteristics into consideration. Providing intellectual stimulation will compound the already robust knowledge base they may have. The knowledge they will gain from me will stimulate their minds and build up cognitive resiliency and flexibility. I will be an intellectual leader by always expanding my own knowledge base and find ways to pass that information on by using the person’s preferred learning method. I should inspire the people I work with as well. I think this will be the most difficult for me. I must find what motivates each individual and group. I will then have to find a way for them to internalize that motivation, and be willing to work hard and do the right thing on their own. Lastly, it is necessary I provide idealized influence. According to Module three, I will have to internalize my organization’s values and be able to set aside my self-interests in order to build up trust and…

Throughout life, I have had many chances of understanding the meaning “leader” by being one. To clarify, I have experienced leadership through being the oldest child in my family, the captain of Hope International University (HIU) Women’s Tennis Team, a part of groups’ presentations in school, as well as a part of my family’s business, and having many other leadership positions. In addition, all those…

I choose the book “Act like a leader, think like a leader, by Herminia Ibarra, which is inspirational read for everyone who has a passion for leading. Ibarra, redefines the traditional leadership notion of “think first, and then act’’ by acting first and then thinking. She described The “Outsight Principle” which is the mine idea of this book. Through the implementation of the “outsight principle”, Ibarra believes that one can improve or develop into an effective leader. This principle attests that the only way to think like a leader is to first act it out and that is to come out of ones’ comfort zone by start doing changes and more experiences. The outcomes of these experiences, she explains, can help people…

A leader is someone who leads by example. Someone confident without seeming cocky. Someone in charge without seeming pushy or bossy. Someone who is knowledgeable, but humble. Someone who knows how to communicate and listen without taking over a conversation. Someone who brings out the best in others. The point of a leader is not to be in command and to have followers. The point of being a leader is to motivate others, to encourage them and inspire others to be positive leaders as well.…

As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7). After examining his definitions and answering the Questionnaire, Reflection, and Action Worksheets questions. Questions designed to help me visualize, recognize, develop, practice, implement and define my own leadership. Consequently, how I define leadership can influence how I practice it. These…
