I could almost see the markings of a pencil that had been pushed into the texture of the white wall. I stood up, and walked over to see what it said. I passed a lady who had fallen asleep on my right that filled the room with an obnoxious rumble that echoed throughout the room. I neared the spot and could make out the words “Hel…” the last word, looked like someone had drew it if they had been in a hurry to write it before they were taken away. Fear encased my brain as I wandered what actually went on behind those doors. Knowing that in only 15 more minutes it was my turn. I returned to my seat and looked around. I felt trapped to see only a little pencil writing on the wall and only 8 chairs filled the room. I could see a light that looked …show more content…

He walked over to the sink to wash his hands. Now I think to myself he’s going to be cleaning my teeth, right... wrong. Next, he started right in with the cuter and his pliers, and drill. I sat there stunned frozen with fear, not knowing if I should have gotten up and ran, but I couldn’t. I sat in that dumb char looking up at him, not knowing weather my life was going to end if I didn’t do something to stop him from ending it. I sat there transfixed with fear ad he made his way towards me, with that grotesque looking drill aimed right for me. He reached over to flip the drill on. And when that drill started that little engine sounded like a freight train coming to my ears, eeerrrr, eeerrrr, it came closer and closer to me. I could see dried blood on it from the last patients, I thought to myself, new blood and also old blood and soon to be, my

There was a tunnel-like walkway before we got to the dance floor. The tunnel was slightly elevated so that one could not see anything until half way down. Once I could see, I was blinded by a twenty-foot DJ stand that was emitting smoke, rainbow colors, and strobe lights.…

In the reader's first glimpse of the narrator, Naomi reveals that she is the “token Indian” of the hotel staff which means that they have to explain behaviour and history to people without indigenous heritage whenever there are gatherings of Native communities. The Blue Man One stormy, foggy night I was sitting near the glass door, I was having a good time playing my video game. About 30 minutes later I got up to get a drink and came back to play. As soon as I took a seat I heard loud noises like branches cracking, then at the corner of my eye I saw a blue figure outside of the glass door, it passed by at the speed of a bullet. At that moment my heart was racing. My mind is telling me to crack the door open but my body said no.…

Presently there was a knock on the door, and soon the first and second floor were filled with the most fashionably dressed ladies and distinguished gentlemen that Rei had ever seen. And every one of them wanted a moment of her time. She moved among them, or perhaps they passed her around the room, where she smiled sweetly and made pretty answers to their questions of what books she had read and how she would wear her hair in the spring. She felt like a pet amongst the nobility, allowed only there because of how precious she was to them. None of them seemed to mind that they had come apparently to meet her…

Bronte uses a wide variety of language features in order to create a suspenseful and tense scene. Firstly, the very name of this dreaded 'red room' sounds dark and evil in itself. Images of blood, haunted houses and ghosts instantly flood my mind when I think of it. After researching the physiological implications of the colour red, I found some important attributes include: strength, basic survival, aggression and strain[1]. This could suggest that there had been a struggle before Mr Reed's death that took place in that room, perhaps a physical fight and a bloody death.…

In this extract Charlotte creates a Negative atmosphere that surrounds the Red Room. Bronte uses a variety of devices and techniques to highlight the atmosphere of the room in which Jane is thrown into for misbehaving. The name of the red room itself creates an atmosphere of anger and passion, the colour connotations of red are determination, power and desire which are seen as negative emotions that create a negative atmosphere. Bronte injects this colour throughout the extract as the room is filled with red: arguably, this could portray Jane’s emotions however the room could also be used to make Jane feel these emotions more in depth which could be reflected through the repeated use of “deep”.…
