You, yes you, the reader, must be wondering what this story is about. Well, it’s about a part of my life, and I’ll tell you about it.

I remember that day when I moved into that town. It was a fresh and clear day. The birds were singing and the sun was shining all over. I had unpacked and had decided to explore around the place. I went through the shops and the park, and nothing interested me. I had walked around and I was pretty sure that I had seen something shimmering in the sunlight, but when I looked closer, it was gone.

Now, I will tell you how I became this: a ghost.

Over the next few days, I was well known with the town, but I had a funny feeling. I always thought that something was following me around wherever I went, and whenever

The figure on the right was a female: she was skinny, short, had buggy eyes and her hair hung all the way down to the ground. The other figure was lanky and he was smiling in a funny way.

I cleared my throat and managed to croak, “Who are you? Ghosts?”

The female smiled and replied, “Yeah, we are. But we’re not here to scare you. Carlos was just messing around with you.”

Carlos, the one with the cunning smile looked at me and said, “Hey, I’m sorry about scaring you. I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to joke around.”

I nodded and said, “Right. Well, um, what are your names?”
The female smiled and said, “I’m Harmony, and this here is my friend Carlos.”
I stared at them and they said, “Well, got to go. We’ll be seeing you often.”
As soon as I blinked, they left. I got up and made my way to bed.

Days went by and the ghosts came and visited me. I knew no one else here very much, and they were my only friends. Yes, the ghosts were my friends. They told me that they had died many years ago, but they wouldn’t tell me how. I urged them to tell, but they would change the

It was sacrifice.” I stared at him. “She sacrificed herself, and I sacrificed myself. Every 1000 years, one person has to sacrifice his or herself for the sins that the town has done. There’s going to be another one this year.”

I took a deep breath and said, “I'll stop this sacrifice thing. I gave you my heart, Carlos. I'm sorry I didn't believe you.”

He walked to me and said, “I love you, but we can’t be together, you know.”

I nodded but I whispered, “It’s ok. I'll stop this sacrifice.” Carlos shook his head and told me that it won’t be stopped and that he didn’t tell me because he didn’t want to freak me out. I shook my head and said that I would stop it.

I looked through the town, but I couldn’t find anything. I looked at the ground, at walls, and even at houses to see a pattern or something that I could read, but I found nothing.

Harmony met me and said in an icy tone, “You can't stop this sacrifice, you know. You and Carlos can’t be together. I won’t let you be together.” I looked at her, confused.

Harmony laughed and said, “I love Carlos so much. I mean, he's great and handsome. I'm beautiful and we’ve been together for a long time, while you've been with him for just a
