In “Film as Art and Psychology: Cool Hand Luke as Exemplar," Frank Barron employs a metaphorical comparison between religion and movies to claim that Cool Hand Luke is “about the Passion and Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ” (102). He substantiates his claim with in-depth mise-en- scène analysis, which does make Barron’s argument convincing, but to a certain extent. Barron highlights how Lucas Jackson’s figure movement and expressions symbolize that of Jesus Christ. For example, when he says “Luke is [seen] repeatedly stretching his arms akimbo, spread-eagled so that his body is like a cross” (102) after doing the unthinkable, eating fifty eggs. I do agree with Barron that Luke’s actions signify that of Christ; however the author focuses…

In his memoirs entitled Inside Third Reich, Albert Speer depicts his time as Adolf Hitler’s head architect and a very close personal friend. Their friendship lasted nearly 12 years, ending when HItler committed suicide in his bunker. After the war Speer was certain that he would be sentenced to death by hanging like many other Nazi leaders. Instead he was sentenced to a 20 year sentence in Spandau prison. He was granted this sentence in lieu of death due to a convincing case made at the Nuremberg trials.…
Shawshank and Luke Intro: “Calling it a job don’t make it right boss” (Luke, Cool Hand Luke). Within the films Cool Hand Luke and Shawshank Redemption, one can discover that through drinking issues of each character that prison is in fact obviously terrible. However, with the fact that prison does also come to an end for some the friendships and plans that are made, are forever lasting. Between the two films Cool Hand Look and The Shawshank Redemption, there are a number of similarities and differences expressed through each of the given reviews such as with symbols, plot, and the theme of each film.…
My example of foreshadowing is in the movie Star Wars Return of the Jedi. Luke heads to the planet of Dagobah searching for a wise Jedi master, named Yoda. Yoda trains Luke to become a great and powerful Jedi Knight, but during Luke’s training, Luke gets a vision that Han Solo and Princess Leia are in trouble with the Empire. So Luke tells master Yoda that he has to go save his friends from the empire and that he will come back again to finish his training. Luke starts packing up his things when Yoda and the spirit of Obi Wan Kenobi try to convince Luke to stay and finish his training, and that he they don’t forsure know that Han and Leia are in danger.…
I used google search engine to research for logical gallacies, and I picked Purdue OWL's exmaples. Circular argument restates the argument rather than proving it. Example provided in the Purdue OWL is George Bush is a good communicator because he speaks effectively. " He speaks effectively" did not explain why Bush is a "good communicator". Ad populum is an emotional appeal that talks about concepts rather than the real issue.…
One day, Yoda was walking down the road when suddenly Krampus jumped out from a bush and took his cane. ”Hey you!” Yoda yelled, “I need that cane to help myself walk you hairy oaf”Yoda’s can also helped him meditate. Yes, I said meditate. Fun fact, Yoda actually eats his cane for a special sap it contains in which gives him the nutrition he needs.…
A little over two decades after his fall to the Dark Side, Anakin (as Darth Vader) eventually returns to the Light Side of the Force. I argue that his acceptance of Stoic values near the conclusion of Return of the Jedi allows him to redeem himself. Throughout the prequel trilogies, Anakin does show some hints of Stoic values, even though he consistently fails to uphold them and refuses to follow the Jedi Code. After he executes Count Dooku, he comments to Palpatine that he should not have killed him as it was against the Jedi way (Attack of the Clones). Anakin at least demonstrates an ability to adhere to the Code that he swore to uphold and a consciousness of his rule-breaking, which foreshadows his ability to convert later in his life.…
During my research of Anakin Skywalker, I had run into some challenges getting to know him on a deeper level. I was also able to connect the storyline to new historicism, and view on how Anakin relates to coming of age. The main thing that I found to be challenging about my characters was finding the films. Growing up, my family and I never sparked an interest in the Star Wars movies, so we never watched them.…

Interpersonal relationships are the connections and feelings between two or more people (O’Hair, Wiemann, Mullin, & Teven, 2014, P. 182). A good form of communication is vital to maintain various relationships. Furthermore, it is important to keep in mind that people communicate differently with others depending on their relationship; for example, individuals interact with their family members differently than the way that they would interact with friends or significant others. For this focus, the essay will evaluate the relationships among characters in a film called Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. The film is an American Sci-fi released in 2005 under George Lucas.…
my personal favorite story is the story of Star Wars, but not just the movie, the story of how a ragtag team of film makers made an amazing classic still alive today. The story of star wars begins in the California home of George Lucas where he began to capture the romance and adventure that he saw in old movies that he watched as a young boy as well as the heroics of the great Flash Gordon TV series. so george began to write the script for a screenplay that would one day be known as "Star Wars" Before George along with a crew of over 100 men and women could begin this interstellar epic they would need people to play the roles of the characters. The young hero, Luke Skywalker was played by Mark Hamil, a newbie to show business. the mentor and guide of the hero is the old and wise member of a long forgotten order of knights know as the Jedi, his name is Obi-Wan Kenobi played by Sir Alec Guiness.…
This was the compare and contrast essay and I felt like I did pretty bad on it to begin with. One problem was the two weeks leading up to when it was due i had been working full time and also had two 24 hour clinicals ( meaning literally staying 24 hours at a fire station). So, this took a lot of the free time I had with the other essay and turned it into me writing at approximately three in the morning. One positive is that I always do a recursive writing process, my honors teacher in high school was really into it so it has always been a habit.…
