During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln started planning the Reconstruction. He wanted the United States to join back together as soon as possible. In December 1963, he announced his plan which would require the state’s constitution to prohibit slavery. A week later Reconstruction is the process how the federal government struggled with returning the eleven confederate states to the union, rebuild the south’s economy, and promote the rights of former slaves. The Reconstruction Era lasted around 1865 - 1877. During that era, three amendments were passed that were the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. The Reconstruction Era was not a “second civil war” for the fact the freedmen's bureau and all the amendments that were passed.
