The reason why I am in college today is because I want to get a career as well as being successful in life. I believe that success is something that almost anybody can achieve in their life. Reaching success may be easy or difficult for some people, but I believe it’s based on the person. A sociologist named Robert Merton made a theory that involves success. Richard T. This self-content and in turn, "successful life" can only be met by pursuing one's passions, maintaining healthy relationships, and above all, putting self-approval over the approval of others. Throughout my life, I have been asked what I want to be when I grow up, whether an engineer, a writer to a lawyer. As one may expect, my answer differed each time. It was not until this year, though, that I analyzed this question in terms of what I'd actually enjoy doing for the entirety of my adulthood.…

Do you, as an individual, conform to society or do you like to show people that you are different than most others? Out of the seven billion people who live in this world, most would say they conform to society, which is very natural. Humans are social beings and conforming to society is one way that we show each other that we are like them. Sometimes we feel obligated to conform by the people we respect, look up to, or people who are in higher positions than us. Most people find it easier to rely on others and to be a social conformist rather than being a social non-conformist. Being a social conformist is easier because you do not have to explain why you want to be different or why you refuse to give in to peer pressure. People tend to find it easier to deal with peer pressure if they follow the crowd. The definition of success and the average person’s perception of success can be very similar and slightly deceiving. The Webster’s definition of success is, the attainment of popularity or profit.…
