The Reaping In The Hunger Games

In the Hunger Games the Reaping Is when the capital randomly chooses two kids from every district and they have to fight to the death. The Reaping only happens once a year, a few months before the Games began. These kids can be as young as twelve to eighteen, and they are usually picked randomly or you can volunteer yourselves. If a district doesn’t participate in the reaping, they receive the death penalty. Whoever wins or whoever is the last standing gets to get food to feed their whole district. Since the districts are very poor, food is rare. They are able to apply for treasure, which is grain and oil.

So basically the Reaping is punishment for the uprising, which is the youngest. How the Reaping works is once someone turns twelve years old in the district he’s or she’s name gets automatically submitted. Their names go in once a year, and stays in, thus increases your chance of getting picked. In the story Gale’s name was in there a lot so he had the most chance of getting picked and Prim’s name was only in there once so she only had a small chance of being chosen. She mostly learned trades from her father, who she loved dearly but he was killed. So katniss is willing to do this to help her family, and also her district after her father’s death. She is willing to trade to get better things to help her family in any way. Her mother recovered and begins to work.
