Mean Girls Reaction Paper

My positive reaction to this film is that finally somebody showed the reality of how media portrayed women. I consider this a positive reaction because now young women will understand that they do not have to live by the standards and limitations that are presented by the media. My negative reaction to this film is that they show all men being affected by these standards when is not necessarily true. Not all men behave the way the film illustrates affected males. The passages that created the most impact on me was how the real women suffer because of the ideals that mass media create on men. I cannot believe that there were such sexual assaults to women just to recreate how music videos treat women’s bodies. The directors of music videos know that by targeting the fantasies of adolescent males they will be successful. These directors include wet female bodies taking showers and looking directly to the camera as if it is an invitation to men to look and desire them. Women are always given male fantasy roles such as cheerleaders, flight attendants, hotel maid in short skirts, librarians, school teachers, sorority girls partying, police women with whips, school girls in uniforms, etc. Directors also use bisexuality as a fantasy to capture males’ attention. It is sad to learn that our society is so used to these music videos that women behavior has been changing constantly. Now is acceptable for women to walk around showing some skin and even show their intimate body parts as fun in parties and beaches. My perceptions of entertainment media has changed and I will not see music videos the same but I cannot change my personal relationship with society because it is the world we live in and I do not think it will change any time
