In comparison to most of the world, France is a progressive nation in terms of LGBT rights. The nation does not concern itself with differentiation between same-sex couples and heterosexual couples – same-sex marriage and adoption are legal in every territory of France. Additionally, openly gay individuals are permitted to serve in the French military. Most importantly, the law bans all anti-gay discrimination, including discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation in employment (“France Archives…” 2013).
