'The Real Story Of Revere's Ride'

Isaac Bashevis Singer once said “ the very essence of literature is the war between emotion and intellect, between life and death. When literature becomes too intellectual- when it begins to ignore the passions, the emotions - it becomes sterile, silly, and actually without substance.” This quote includes both sides of learning history, through informative text as well as literary pieces. Isaac wants the quote to be interpreted that pieces of Literature contain points not of facts, but in the sense of enjoyment whereas informational text is made on the bases of facts on a real event. The events that occur off of informational texts have been proven either by someone who experienced the particular event or received information from a trusted source. In The Real Story of Revere's Ride the author included the true event with facts. For example in the text it states “ After delivering his message, Revere was joined by a second rider, William Dawes, who had been sent on the errand by a different route. Deciding on their own to continue on to Concord, Massachusetts, where weapons and supplies were hidden Revere and Dawes were joined by a third rider, Dr. Samuel Prescott. Symbolism is used by the author by letting a specific points in the story represent a separate meaning.
