The Ravine Vs. Spider-Man

Decent Essays
In this essay, I will be comparing the character “Vinny” from “The Ravine” and my favorite superhero, Spider-Man. Let’s start with how they’re different.
Differences
Vinny is reluctant to do stuff, such as jumping off of the ledge. Spider-Man is willing to do anything to save the citizens or fight villains in New York. Vinny is nervous at many times, and was scared of things such as losing his friends, getting lost, or dying. Spider-Man can be nervous if he is facing a gruesome opponent. This is uncommon though, since Spider-Man is a hero and is almost fearless when he stops the bad guys.

King Arthur and Spiderman are two fictitious characters that are both similar, and dissimilar to each other. In an excerpt from Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, he writes about monomyth, which is a twelve step process that is divided into four sections. This represents a continuous cycle that the character in the story must go through in order to complete their journey. King Arthur and Spiderman follow the cycle of the Heroes Journey by events in their lives made parallel to the cycle of the Heroes Journey. King Arthur and Spiderman, although from two different ends of the spectrum, are actually alike, both coming from epic tales of struggles and triumph.…

Each and every one of the masked adventurers in Watchmen, by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, are very different. Each character grew up differently and is motivated by something different that leads their perceptions on right and wrong. For example, Rorscharch, Walter Kovacs, and the Comedian, Edward Blake, seem like polar opposites, yet they are very similar. Neither character was well liked by the other masked adventurers/vigilantes. Both characters remained focused on what they perceived as right.…
