The Raven
The raven is one of the first poems that was created for the purposeses of horror or gothic purposes. The poem is closely related to the author and his feeling of lose towards his wife Virginia that had only died the year before. The Raven starts off with the narrator in his room with a gloomy setting showing his loss and desperation to his beloved Lenore. The death of Lenore can represent Virginia in the real life of the author.A normal person would not hear about or read that there is a strange knocking to door and a talking bird that speaks only one and that word is “nevermore”. The only actual way of communication would most likely be the by mail and that would take even years to get. The only reasonable way of entertainment would be reading for the leisure time. There was still a bit of british aristocracy in the original colonies since they had just separated from their mother country. There was also the fact the britain still had not accepted the colonies as an independent nation ( Kennedy, David, and Lizabeth Cohen). This factors gave place how well accepted his work was which wasn’t well liked by many people since his approach to the literary world was different than those of a normal or famous writer, it wasn’t till later than after his death that his work was well received and esteemed (Edgar Allan Poe).Then fact the Mr.Poe struggled with money was no secret but it also was no secret that there was no foundation of money since Jackson (the seventh president ) hated the national bank. Depression is a severe emotion that people feel, that can be can only be described as desolate and dejection. Depression can be caused by many things one of the reason may be the loss a loved one, mostly believing the that loss was self-hate ( Nemade, Rashmi and Mark Dombeck). The fact is that anybody can get depression, some may not even know that are having signs of depression. Some people get it because of financial problems like loans and bills that one have to pay but don 't have the enough money to pay it all off. Other people may get it by the cause of pressure and expectation people have set for them. Referring to the paper earlier the author experienced a great amount of loss with the death with of his wife causing him to grieve over his wife leaving him to writing to address this issue of depression. Edgar Allen Poe address this issue with his or this issue to give the audience thought what it feels like to mourn the death of someone beloved.
