Before the events of the book series Ronan was a different person. He had an amiable disposition, which he had ended up burying deep within him after his father’s death. Adam recalls, “You know, when I first met Gansey, I couldn’t figure out why he was friends with someone like Ronan...And I asked why Gansey was even friends with him… Gansey told me that Ronan always told the truth, and the truth was the most important thing.” (Stiefvater 114) Gansey, who has known Ronan from before his father was brutally murdered, looks after the well-being of his friend because he knows that Ronan’s anger is superficial and his words have no bad intentions. Ronan’s gentle side is clearly evident to the reader when he is dreaming. He has a peculiar ability to pull items- occasionally people- from his dreams. So, it is only natural that one would assume that someone like Ronan would gravitate towards bringing back items or people that would wreak havoc among the real world.
