Situations enter into life as a test, in which must you decide the outcome. When there is an inability to overcome this situation, it may become the biggest obsession in your mind. In the stories “The Raven” and “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe the reader is introduced to a world when an event in your life has the ability to paralyze and transform your life. “The Raven” is a poem about a man who has lost the love of his life, Lenore. The man is seeking the ability to remove the sorrow that has once filled his heart and be able to rest from the pain. In the story “The Tell Tale Heart” it focuses on a journey between an old man and his caretaker. The caretaker is a young man who from the beginning has a frightening obsession with the old man. The reader is introduced to the fact that the old man 's eye is haunting the caretaker and this causes the young man to go insane. In “The Raven” and “The Tell Tale Heart” there are two similarities and one difference that sticks out the most. The similarities in the two stories is that they both occur during midnight and they both follow a dark mood. The difference in the two stories is that they both have a different way that the main mood is created. These two compelling stories by Edgar Allan Poe have many similarities and differences that are able to make the story have a meaning deeper than originally thought.
