Why Is Adnan Syed Is Not Guilty Of Murder?

Adnan Syed is not guilty in the murder of Hae Min Lee. Syed did not seem sad after the two had broken up because to Adnan, it seemed more of a high school relationship, nothing serious. Also, racism played a big role in the case, especially in Episode 10. Last, there is more evidence someone else could have killed Hae like Ronald Lee Moore. Adnan Syed is not guilty of murder because there was no change of attitude after the break up. Adnan and Hae dated when they were Juniors. Adnan asked Hae to junior prom and according to her diary, fell in love with her after Adnan decided to dance with Hae instead of Stephanie. The two both kept it a secret from their parents. Many argued Adnan was a controlling boyfriend like Aisha. However, Hae’s diary …show more content…
First, the jury used his name as a reason that he is a murderer. “ Why would someone let their daughter date a man named Adnan Syed? ” (Serial Episode 10) What does that mean? Was the jury implying that through his name, he is a bad man and due to his race and her race that they should not date? This shows the racism of the jury and how bias the case was in opposition to Syed. Honor killings were also brought up as a potential motive for Adnan since he has a Pakistani background. That is something else from the case, the court saw Adnan Syed as a Pakistani rather than an American. Tanya Basu, a staffer for the Atlantic, asks herself, “ What role, if any, did race play in Adnan’s trial?” Basu believed the jury had some form of xenophobia or hatred or dislike of people from other countries which bring the expectation of honor killings common in Pakistan. This brings us back to why Honor Killings could be a potential motive. Honor killings are murders of women who have, one way or another, hurt the reputation of the family. What they are implying is Adnan killed Hae in honor of his family for …show more content…
Adnan’s attitude did not change when the two broke up because it was a regular high school romance that happens to most people, reasonable because high school relationships do not always last forever. Racism is one detail that affected Adnan in his case unfair and unjustified. Again, in episode 10, the Jury was trying to explain. A name does not mean you can or cannot marry someone. Adnan was introduced to the court as a Pakistani rather than an American. The jury that asked the judge on who would let their daughter date Adnan through his name, can be concluded Adnan was violated of the 14th Amendment that gives equal protection of the law. Instead, the jury concluded that his Pakistani backgrounds were his motive. The Speaker of the Jury does not give an explanation to why the name Adnan Syed is such a terrible name for anybody, whereas they should never be allowed to date. Also, Robert Lee Moore, a criminal who killed himself in 2012 and has been connected to another murder in 1999 of a young Asian woman, who was released out of jail two weeks before Hae was killed, appears a better explanation for the murder of Hae Min Lee. These reasons make Adnan

This means the murder occurred between the time school let out at 2:15 to 2:36 pm. In the podcast, Serial, Sarah Koenig and an acquaintance attempted to retrace the events that occurred on the day of the murder based on cell phone records. They found that by rushing through traffic the fastest they could get to Best Buy was in 18 mins which, only leaves 3 mins for the actual murder to occur. In that time Adnan would have to strangle Hae, pick up her dead body and stuff it in the trunk, and then place a call to Jay from a telephone pole. There are several issues with this theory for example how is it possible to get a dead body into the trunk of a car without being noticed in the middle of the day or, why was there no evidence of a struggle when Hae was known to be an athletic girl who was in shape.…

The most televised trial in recorded history was a murder trial where a famous NFL football player was accused of murder. The O.J. Simpson murder trial was controversial because of numerous reasons. He pled not guilty to the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The evidence and the time leading up to his arrest would make anyone believe that he was guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, but the jury in 1995 found him not guilty. I believe that there is overwhelming evidence against O.J. Simpson, and he should have been found guilty for two murders.…

    Making A Murderer Analysis

Judicial murder made by inequity legal system In the month after “Making a Murderer” premiered on Netflix, more than 129,000 Americans signed a petition to pardon Avery and Dassey for their convictions to the murder of Halbach and in the book ‘in cold blood’ written by Truman Capote, the two murderers were treated by ignoring the mental problem influence of theirs, they stayed in prison for five years and were finally performed death penalty. After reading the book and watching the TV show, I think these crimes sufficiently prove that there is a fundamental inequity at work in countless branches of legal system. Making a Murderer tells a story about the life of Steven Avery, who was convicted of rape in 1985 and imprisoned for 18 years, despite…

Racism stands for more than one thing. In this case Harper Lee expresses that the theme in “ To Kill A MocKingbird” is you should never judge or mistreat someone because of their skin color. In this book a black man was found guilty for raping a white women when he was clearly innocent, in addition he was also shot 17 times because he was black. In some cases shooting someone 17 times and is unarmed is called overkill. So, therefore, racism is still a big thing in the U.S. today Tom Robinson, an African American man found guilty for a crime he didn’t commit such as raping a white women, whose name is Mayella.…
