The Rathbone's Breakdown

Rathbone is such a unique homage to the ones who shared in President Lincoln last moments alive. It shows how this horrific event not only shook American citizens to their core, but also haunted those close to the Lincoln family for a much longer than the usual mourning period. To the Rathbone couple, who had personal relationship ties with the family, the tragedy slowly seeped into every aspect of their lives until it completely over took their mind. The tragedy of Lincoln along with the more recent death of Clara’s close friend Mary Todd Lincoln caused the family to teeter on the brink of madness for eighteen years until it becomes too much for them to psychologically handle and they finally topple over the edge with a bang. I was incredibly impressed with the magnificent historical fiction that one of our own Texas Tech students was able to create and share. I was not aware of the interesting and shocking life of Henry and Clara Rathbone and their connection to the Lincoln. After further research following attending the show I was very awe-struck by how the Erin was able to craft a look into the minds of this couple in an extremely odd situation and imagine what they were psychologically experiencing and put it on the stage. …show more content…
The way in which this was presented was also very interesting because he wanted to cause as much pain to Henry as possible, he found where it hurt and only pressed harder into those pressure points. I think the persona that Austin brought to the Ambassador was spot on. He was able to make him extremely charismatic, but also a sadist that is enjoying the pain that he is causing. Overall, this show was dependent upon Henry and Clara, but was made fascinating but the secondary characters on stage provoking many of the episodes and metal breaks experienced by Henry and
