Suicide Among Young Adults

Life has always been hard but especially for adolescents. One thing to consider is the amount of change there is going on during the time of becoming young adults. Most of this teenagers have a lot of responsibilities in their lives and many problems that lead them to suicide. During this past 15 years, the rate of suicide in adolescents between the ages of 10-24 has gone up by 8 percent. This means that as time keep passing, teenagers feel more and more depressive which leads them to killing themselves. CDC (Center for Disease Control) have proved that Hispanic teenagers usually commit more suicide than black or white teenagers. They always find a way to finish their lives one way or another. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers according to the CDC. Many teenagers feel depressed because of the amount of responsibilities they have nowadays. Young adults are becoming more independent at the harsh fear of not knowing what to do with one’s life or not meeting the expectations of your parents can cause severe trauma in the individual. Other reasons for teenagers to be depressed; things such as the divorce of their parents, moving to a new community, loss of a significant other, not having money to help their family, some type of mental disorder, or drug abuse. When something very tragic happens and they have no way out other than killing themselves. When parents get divorce, children usually get depressed. They move to another community where they have to meet new people and make new friends which most of the time is very difficult to get use to if one does not seek help. There are many teenagers who have suffered the loss of someone very close to them and they feel like they can not go on with their own lives if they do not have this significant other with them. Most teenagers also need to help their family to pay the bills like rent, phone, electricity, etc. This means that they either work, study, do both or start using and selling drugs to earn money to survive and to help at home. This causes them to become aggressive and depressive to the point of killing themselves. Many of these teenagers who need to earn money to survive and to help their family come from another country so that makes it even worse because now they have to learn a new language and a different culture where they have to find a way to balance everything.
