“Excuse me, Officer Daniels would you like anything else?” It was 9 o'clock at night in Hillsberry where the dark sky layered over the town. I was on my night break.
“Oh no, thank you Lucy I’m just about to leave.”
Lucy nodded and took my empty coffee cup. I stood up from the café table, being startled by a station message through his talkie.
“ 207 young female kidnapping, copy.”
“Copy, be right there”
I walked out of the cafe towards my car feeling anxious about the kidnapping when the sound of a screeching caught my attention. It was a white caravan speeding into the parking lot and crashing straight into a ginormous tree. The vehicle looked like it had no control. The cafe staff came out of as they were terrified by the big bang. I took

Jenee Desmond – Harris wrote an article called “Tupac and My Non-thug Life,” which was published in an online article called The Root. The title of this article seems very contradictory and that is because it is. This article is about how Desmond – Harris, as a young privileged half white, half black teenage girl, finds herself trying to embody Tupac after his death. The contradiction of this is that Desmond-Harris did not relate to Tupac in the ways of how they grew up. Desmond – Harris had yet to confront any of life’s hard edges when Tupac had passed.…

Gangsta rap was one of the many subgenres of rap during the ‘golden era’. This time between the late eighties and early nineties was when rap had countless artists and all were different. Whether it was black nationalism, gangs or religion itself rappers could rap about whatever they wanted and were still financially stable. Although things changed in rap when certain portrayals of black masculinity were becoming noticeably more commercially successful than others. (Randolph, 8)…
