Later on in the movie he was really sad that his parents weren't home and so then he wished for them back. This reveals that when we are mad we hope for things that we don’t really want to happen. We are so happy that they did happen when they do, but then we realize that we probably shouldn’t have wished for that to happen and then we really wish for it back. In the movie and the story the main characters and the minor characters share many similarities and many differences. One similar trait that the main characters share is being brash. In the story The Ransom of Red Chief on page 65 it states, “Red Chief was sitting on Bill’s chest, with one hand tangled in Bill’s hair. In the other he had the sharp knife we used for slicing bacon. He was trying very hard and with great realism to scalp Bill. That was the sentence that Bill had been given the evening before.” This illustrates that Red Chief was a bad child. He scared Bill and put Sam and Bill through a lot of trouble. Having Red Chief, put a lot of strain on Bill. In a scene from the movie Home Alone Kevin did a lot of brash things to his brothers room. One of the same events that happened was that the little boys tortured the captors more than the captors tortured the little boys. On page 72 of the short story The Ransom of Red Chief the text states, “On the way he kicks my legs black and blue from the knees down. And I’ve got to have two or three bites on my hand treated.” This shows that Red Chief was hurting Bill more than Bill and Sam had hurt or tortured Red Chief. He had been kicking him to the point where he had bruises on his legs. A clip from the movie Home Alone is where Kevin shot the two burglaries when they tried to come into the house and take over. This illustrates that Kevin was not letting the bad guys come in and so he had to do something about it. He tortured them way more than Harry and Marv did to Kevin. Another similar event between the two is the little boys not wanting to be with their families. In the story on page 64 the text states, “Red Chief, says I to the kid, would you like to go home? Aw, what for? Says he. I don't have any fun at home. I hate to go to school. I like to camp out. You won't take me back home again, Snake-eye, will you?” This shows that Red Chief did not want to go back home with his dad. He wanted to stay with Sam and Bill because this was something new lifestyle for him. In the movie the Kevin also didn't want to be with his family. He wished for them to go away and
