Introduction
In the novel , The Radioactive Boy Scout, the story starts off by telling us about a young boy named David Hahn (the main character) who grew up in the outskirts of Detroit. As the story tells us, David had always been intrigued by Science. The main character, David, was apart of the boy scouts, and he was attempting to earn his Atomic Energy badge in the novel. The book tells us about his journey to create a nuclear breeder reactor in very close detail and his adventures along the way to becoming what he's dreamed of always being, a Scientist. I will be informing you of different chapters in The Radioactive Boy Scout and how they relate to our current chemistry class.

He read books at the library about the elements Uranium and Hydrogen. They were used in the Curies discovery. David also got different jobs. His father did not like him trying out different jobs. The jobs he enrolled in were as follows; washing dishes and silverware at a hot dog restaurant, he put groceries in plastic bags at the grocery store Kroger, he cooked hamburgers at McDonald's and he loaded furniture on vehicles for La-Z-Boy. Also in the chapter, David was experimenting with something and the plastic container exploded in his face and wasn't able to see out of one eye and got the other flushed out. In chemistry class, or in every science class you learn to put protective gear on while experimenting with chemicals or any substance that can harm you. If David would have protected his self and used the right precautions while testing things, he wouldn't have lost his sight for a …show more content…
David messed with chemicals once again and ending up creating moonshine. He made this liquid or alcoholic beverage with a yeast recipe for ethanol that he found in a book called , The Golden Book. In the beginning of chapter five, David realizes he doesn't want to collect anything and be like other kids, he wants to follow his passion of conducting experiments. David tests out the different types of periodic elements, elements which you may find on the Periodic Table. In chemistry, Mr. Sanders teaches us the elements of the Periodic Table and lots of different facts about it. He taught us what these elements may do, their atomic number and mass, and who even created the Periodic Table of The Elements. David uses elements from the Periodic Table throughout his whole journey. The Periodic Table of The Elements is a very important key element to this novel, which we learn about in class
