The bright birds raced to the great tree as they ululated like a singer warming up. Of course the usual crickets and cicadas would be there, but today there was an air of excitement amongst the birds, recruitment day. As the birds arrived they say the line of hopefuls, but their eyes soon fell upon the Racoon and the woods became silent as they pondered why he kept showing up. Many animals tried out, few were good, finally it was the Raccoons turn. Some of the choir left, in order to avoid the cringe, the majority stayed because they found it amusing. The Racoon for his twentieth time, unable to tell when to quit, steps up and attempts to sing, his voice like a deflating balloon was endurable but definitely not beautiful. At the end, per normal, they told him to go home, but this time something was different, they …show more content…
The Racoon, defeated, finally realizing how bad he was, just started to walk. He came to clearing and knowing he needed some sleep to feel better, he took a nap. When he awoke, centered but still sad, he realized that he was in a part of the woods he had never been to before, it was the forbidden clearing; he didn’t care, his mind was centered on one thing, The Choir. As he turned to get up he jumped back startled, for he saw the last face most people see: the snake. The snake, surprised to see someone at his doorstep, asked the obvious “Why are you here in this place of death?” The Racoon to scared to talk clearly mumbled “We-e-ell I-I just didn’t realize”. The Snake theorizing realized the Raccoon was went and it hasn’t rained. “You aren't worthy prey, tell me what saddens you?”, “I can’t get into the choir”, “Come, I will teach you
