The question of Christ’s deity may be the single most important question that the Church has to face today. Many today claim that Jesus was just a good teacher and that he himself never claimed to be divine. In Islam, it is believed that the Christians corrupted his teachings to say that he was the Son of God. However, through this apologetics course, it has been shown verifiably that the New Testament is reliable and uncorrupted. This means that what Jesus says in the New Testament is most likely the most accurate version of what he taught. According to the Biblical account, Jesus Christ claimed a great number of times to be the Son of God directly, through declaration of his oneness with God, and by multiple inferences made in his explanations of salvation. Jesus’ followers so not just believe that he is the promised Messiah and Son of God; he declared himself to be the promised Son of God numerous times throughout the New Testament. Christ directly claimed to be God multiple times, refuting those who claim he was just a good teacher who never claimed divinity. John 14:13 records Jesus as saying, "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (The Holy Bible)” In this verse, he directly claims to be the Son of God. Not only that, but he also claims the ability to answer any prayer that is asked in his name.
