In the book we read over the summer called How to Read Literature like a Professor, the list of a quest came up. The list consisted up our quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go there, challenges and trials, and the real reason to go. Over the past few years I have read three books that have had aspects of a quest come up throughout the books.

The first book I have read which is also a story that is also a classic in literature. It is called Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet they had a quest of being together but in the ned the families were rivals and they couldn't be in love. Even though throughout all the trial and errors of trying to be together, it's loved them killed them. The quest was to be with one another but seeing each other had its own troubles. Romeo was risking his life to see her as well as Juliet. Not well communication between the couple's plans to figure a way to be together is what killed them. They later killed themselves because of Juliet not telling Romeo she was going to fake a death to be with him. Romeo killed himself by drinking poison in front of Juliet’s cassscate she was faking her death in. Juliet killed herself

In this book a big conflict was going on that these children had no idea what they were actually doing. The best way to describe it is that a space military was recruiting smart young people to train for a “battle” one day. What they didn’t realize is that during these test trial “games” they had to control of a “simulator” battle, they were actually fighting and they were lied to. They were trained for a quest to defeat an alien species that was going to take over Earth. The quest was to defeat an alien species and many conflicts arose in the barracks and who was the best “squad” on the base. People died and people killed each other, but all in all the whole so called “game was a quest to defeat a war to save planet

The first chapter of the book How to Read Literature like a Professor, by Thomas C. Foster discusses the importance of recognizing the quest in every story. What comes to mind when reading the word quest would be a stereotypical medieval setting. This medieval setting would consist of five things, a quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go there, challenges and trials, and a deeper and more meaningful reason to go which is usually not clearly stated. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley meets all of the requirements of a “quest”, the quester being Victor Frankenstein. The place to go in the quest would be more of the pursuit of greater knowledge while the stated reason would be personal satisfaction gained by the protagonist in reaching the desired knowledge.…

How many times has a person wondered what love controls and effects in life? However, when people look broader into the topic of love they find something that affects love more than we think, and that is conflict. The modern day society looks around and sees the connection of love and conflict everywhere they go. Although this is one of the most common aspects of our modern day life it was also very prominent in ancient times and even early modern ages. Even love and conflict seem like opposing forces they have properties that tie them together like the very fact they are opposing forces, love is a very disagreeable topic and many other people will have opinions and think different about love, also love blinds people and the people can get so wrapped up in love they don’t focus on things they should which all of these in turn all of these can easily lead and cause conflict.…

Some individuals may not trust that destiny is something that honestly exists on the planet. This bit of the populace questions that there is anything that is really intended to be or expected to happen. They assume that whatever happens in their lives comes as a consequence of the choices that they make with their own through and through freedom. Others trust that whatever happens over the span of their lives is unavoidable and and laid out before them like a guide to life. William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet has destiny as a prevalent theme, making the characters vivified.…

A quest is usually a person looking for the Holy Grail, going to a store for bread; these tasks of varying nobility. When the character goes on a quest, there is never a stated reason why the character goes on the quest. An example of this is the book or movie Odysseus. Because Odysseus is the main of character and he is heading home from a ten year military expedition, he endures challenges coming home and reuniting his family. His quest was not only to reunite his family, but to discover himself of who he really is during his trip home.…

The first two acts of Romeo and Juliet contains many clear aspects of a comedy including an obstacle and a compilation. By having two of the four aspects of a comedy in the first two acts, the audience is led to believe the play is a comedy and a tragedy. It would be logical to believe that a discovery and celebration, the other two aspects of a comedy, would show up in the remainder of the play. The first two acts are a comedy because of the aspects of a comedy that they contain.…

The decision that I found to be particularly hasty was Romeo's decision to commit suicide. I believe that this decision was impulsive and fueled by Romeo's emotions. It lead to not only his death but his lover Juliet as well. If Romeo had been more thoughtful instead of letting his grief and desperate thoughts overwhelm him, he could of created a different ending for the play, one not as tragic. Before Romeo made such a decision, he had been waiting for Friar Lawrence in Mantua to send him news of the uplifting sorts when Balthazar had told him that Juliet had died.…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

Right or wrong is constantly argued in morals, yet in the end it is always the right thing that hurts less people in the long run. In the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, it is demonstrated that the actions of the battle school were not justified. This is displayed through the mental trauma students suffered and the extinction of an innocent species. Firstly, the actions of the battle school were wrong because the students suffered too much mental trauma.…
