Quests In Sherman Alexie's Do You Know Where I Am

A quest is something that you are trying to accomplish. A goal, or a journey. Somebody asks you to find something, or to do something important, that is a quest. This requires whatever is takes to accomplish the quest. To achieve this, you may have to do things you do not want to do. A quest could be easy, or challenging. Some quests may last a day, others years at a time. To me, a quest is also something you are doing for yourself to achieve happiness. The quest for happiness occurs in marriage and in my life, as I pursue the quest to get my degree. Happiness does not come on itself, you have to work for it. To find happiness, you are going to have to put in the effort to reach happiness. A short story “Do You Know Where I Am?” in The Ten Little Indians, by Sherman Alexie, David and Sharon go through multiple quests. They meet at a young age, and are determined to get married. People think once your wedding day arrives, and you marry the person you love, you will be happy for the rest of your life. You have to decide for yourself if the end result of finding happiness is worth it. You will have multiple papers due on the same day. Sometimes you have multiple tests in the same week as well. College is about learning how to manage your time wisely to get good grades and please your professors.
