The types of employees at Queens Library include full time workers, custodians, full time librarians, managers, computer technicians, part time workers, tutors, volunteers and so forth. The Queens Library impacts nearly every age group and resident of Queens. Around 11.2 million people attend a branch of the Queens Library, which also had more than 15.7 million items circulated in the 2014 fiscal year (“Facts”, 2014). They provide free educational, literary, cultural and informational programs for all age groups, such as after school programs, job training, GED classes, ESOL classes, health and fitness programs and etc. They also provided multilingual books and services. In addition to these services, they also give customers free access to computers and allow printing up to 20 pages per day. Queens Library has made some of their branches more efficient by having patrons’ self-checkout to borrow and return their books. Before these self-checkout machines, workers at the front desk would check out the books for you. In 37 out of the 65 branches a person has the option to return library materials 24/7.
