Every level of production is monitored for quality. Receiving the hops, brewing, and bottling are all closely and constantly checked for quality. Another way the New Belgium Brewing Company has monitored quality and productivity is by involving their employees in all aspects of the company. After a year of employment employees become employee-owners. This gives them a continued interest in the success of the company. NBB implements a horizontal hierarchy which enables its employees, making all employees area leaders. This creates an environment where each individual is responsible for maintaining a high quality in their own area (New Belgium Brewery – Information, 2012, para. 4). The New Belgium Brewing Company uses this method of management to maintain high productivity and quality despite the size of the company.
Employee Stock Ownership Program January 17th, 2013 marked a special day for the New Belgium Brewing Company. It announced that the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) had purchased the balance of the company shares making it 100% employee-owned (New Belgium Brewing Company, 2013, para. 1).
