It is otherwise known as ageing in place, one of the ten goals of the Positive Ageing Strategy by the New Zealand government, wherein its goal is to make the elderly feel safe and secure while enabling them to age in the community (Ministry of Social Development, 2008b). A good home greatly affects both the physical and psychological health of its dwellers. In the case of the older people, a good living environment leads to independence, the feeling of security and the sense of satisfaction while a poor living condition might lead to elevated stress levels, , poor health, high risk for injury and social isolation (Wiles, Leibing, Guberman, Reeve and Allen, 2011; Davey, de Joux, Nana and Arcus, 2004). Regarding the latter, the MOH (2002) in partnership with local communities and authorities along with private sectors are promoting community awareness on depression to address social isolation as a part of the Health for Older People
