In a research study by Black et al, the impacts of the presence of a father or a father figure in a child’s life were analyzed. The researchers’ objective was to analyze the contribution that an African American father with a low socioeconomic status make to their family and the impact that this contribution, in turn, has on a preschool children’s competence, behavior, and home environment.
