The first amendment is the most important in the Bill of Rights. The first amendment guarantees the freedom of speech, assembly, press, religion, and the right to petition government. This is important because the US is growing deeper into debt each day, and this amendment would help eliminate that increase. This amendment could only be violated if the government spends more money than it has in revenue. The alternative process of amending the constitution is when 2/3rds of state legislatures (34 states) ask congress to call a constitutional convention to propose amendments. The amendments must be approved by 3/4ths of the states in order to become ratified.
