Philosophy of Education Essay Behind every educator and school, there should be a philosophy of education, which is a set of beliefs that influences what and how students are taught. Teachers who has a purpose are more focused, refreshed, and excited about the profession. In order to stay true to one’s core belief, a teacher’s philosophy is necessary. Questions about the purpose of the role of a teacher, schooling, and what should be taught and methods are all answered within a teacher’s philosophy of education. Teaching students the ability to get to a place to learn on their own is one primary aim of education. Teachers become frustrated when dealing with unmotivated students. I say this because in idealism, the aim of education is to discover and develop each student’s abilities and full moral excellence in order to better serve society. Its our responsibility as educators to prepare the children to be successful to continue to lead society in an functional state. Essentialism is the educational theory that I feel is closely related to my philosophy of education. Essentialists believes that their is a core of knowledged that need to be given to students in a systematic and disciplined way. It’s based on intellectual and moral standards that should be thought by the school. Uwaga. She was one of the assistant principals at the school I first taught at as a teacher. She was more than just the assistant principal to me. She took me under her wing and mentored me. She gave me great feedback and supported me even after she left during the school year my second year of teaching. She help me prepare for observations and gave me teaching strategies that would help my students become successful. Although I think I have ways to go as a teacher, with this only being my third year in the profession, I truly, believe I would not come thus far.
