The Purpose Of Joshua Cook

I am Joshua Harry, a student currently enrolled at College of the Ozarks. I am currently in my junior year of college, and as such I have firmly decided upon a major that fits my desire to serve the Lord and my community. My major is Culinary Arts, or the study and practice of preparing food, so that it provides needed nutrition, tastes good, is pleasant to view, and above all, is safe to consume. Cooking has always been a major part of my life, and because of this, I have decided to dedicate my life into providing an excellent service to those who need it. I believe in the wisdom that has been taught to me, but I believe that every person has rights, even if they cannot afford them. I believe that every hungry person has a right to eat; it should not matter if they cannot pay for the food. I disagree with charging people for food, but I understand that we must, if we wish to be able to give to those who do not have what they need to

My grandmother would not always be able to find money and they would go hungry or she would go hungry instead and give what food they had to my mom and aunt. No person should have think about whether they will eat today. They should not have to make the decision of whether their children or they will eat. They should not have to feel the pain of starvation and hope that food will come soon. SNAP helps to stop that from happening here in the United States and without millions will go hungry and many will lose their…

I come from a poor family. I never had brand-name shoes or video games, or even a Lisa Frank binder and stickers like my friends at school, but I always had plenty of food in the fridge at home. My family never went hungry in spite of the fact that we were raised by a single mother who made her living as a coffee shop waitress. I did not know, till I was a teenager, that my mom bought the majority of our groceries with food stamps. It never seemed odd to me that she went to the grocery store one time a month and stocked up on milk, sugar, lunchmeat, chicken legs, hamburger meat, and most importantly, coffee.…

For centuries, religion has been a topic of great debate and interest, stemming from the validity of ideals to reasons why people believe in it in the first place. Despite all the efforts over time to thwart religion, it has managed to remain as a prominent structure. One question that seems to always be brought to the table is how religion continues to exist in light of the continual advances of science. The reason religion continues to exist today is not because the furthering of science leads to disproving religion, but rather because religion addresses questions that currently not even the advances of science can answer, giving people a sense of unity and congregation based upon two key emotions: hope and fear.…
