The Pumpkin Monologue

I was laying in my bed unable to sleep because of the severe heat. I peered towards the light in the hall only to see my sister soundly sleeping away. Reaching beside my bed I double checked that the window was truly open as the heat seemed to ever increase. Then it dawned on me everyone is asleep in the house but me. Not wanting to lay in my pool of sweat any longer I arose from my bed heading down the hall towards the kitchen. Once there I got a cool glass of water from the refrigerator. While sitting at the kitchen table I saw a sudden flash of light from the back of the house. I ducked out of view beneath the table and cautiously peered out the window in the direction the light came from. There amid my pumpkin patch I saw a blue glowing …show more content…
Then as if on cue a small growth burst from each side. I watched in disbelief as the growth began to look like arms on the pumpkin. Then suddenly the pumpkin began to rise from the ground. With two growths beneath it, appearing as legs . I was so startled I fell flat to the ground and watched in disbelief. In the distance I could hear movement around the farm. After I composed myself I again looked toward the blue pumpkin. It was now standing about 4 feet tall with two legs and two arms. Suddenly it turned toward me and I saw its spiked teeth and red eyes staring at me. I quickly got to my feet and began running towards the door to the house. When suddenly a large brown tomato jumped up from the ground to stop me from entering the house. I looked over my shoulder and the blue pumpkin was coming towards me. I turned to the left ad saw an opportunity and headed for the gate I got through the gate and where I knew my dogs would protect me. They didn’t seem to come to my aid and panic began to set in. I went down the driveway to their house and found them cowering inside of it. This created an urgent fear deep inside of my heart. I knew what I had to do. I needed to get back into the house. I ran towards the house and saw the Blue Pumpkin and brown tomato waiting there for
