The Psychology of Learning & Careers
In the Merriam-Webster dictionary career is defined as a profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as a permanent calling. Some people have one career for their entire life, whereas others may change it one or two or maybe even five times before they find their true calling. Through finding a career an individual will lead a successful life by doing what they enjoy and making a sustainable living off of it. Though what is success? In “The Psychology of Learning & Careers” by Ken Sproul, success is defined as means to achieve a desired outcome.
To acquire a career one must first receive the education and training to pursue the career of their choice. Currently, I am enrolled in Seneca College

A few beliefs that I have are being tied to my Ukrainian culture and heritage, my schooling I believe will help me achieve the knowledge I need to possess and be able to locate a career. The values that I hold are of cooperation with working with others, listening to people around and to myself, loyalty to others and family are just a few of the values that guide my behaviour. A person’s culture can affect what career they do depending on their background, beliefs and values. For me, I am Ukrainian and lots of people in my family they become teachers or doctors or even dentists. That would be a family tradition to follow if I chose too follow in their footsteps.. As they encourage me to get a high profile job for my life so I can be able to sustain myself and furthermore become successful in the long run. Though, my interest can also affect my major and career as well because I enjoy going out socially with my friends and others and swimming whenever I get the time to, to better my personal health and for personal enjoyment. Through knowing what I want from college, the skills, networking and new opportunities help me find who I am and what I can do for myself. The value of having a college education can make a difference of having a steady job and a high profile career, by the income that I can get paid. College can also help me become more open-minded and to expand the way I see people and the world around me with the many careers I am open to choose in my lifetime. As I have many factors that can determine what I want to do as a career, what type of career I am fit for, what type of career I can attain through the help of others, and much more. From these factors they can help motivate me to find a career, choose a career and eventually get possession of that career and help me become success in life. The motivation I have will give me the encouragement and persistence to keep on a steady career path even if I change my mind I can stay open to new ideas and options with having none or very little obstacle.Which even if I do I can be able to overcome them with time, confidence and motivation and with seeing the reward of success at the finish
