As a detective, Dave Beuter shows “big H heroism” (Cherry, The Psychology of Heroism), when he does regular patrol functions and investigates crimes. According to psychologist Frank Farley, anything involving pain, death, and any other thing that requires a great amount of risk is big H heroism (Cherry The Psychology of Heroism). When responding to these situations he has to investigate crime scenes, take photographs, and Beuter has to interview people to find more information for the investigation. While on regular patrol functions, Dave Beuter has to resolve issues between people and respond to accidents at houses and other places they may occur.

Dave Beuter is involved in the Walker Betterment Club, which impacts many children. Beuter believes that more people should be involved in the community they live in. The Walker Betterment Club puts together all of the different town celebrations. One of the celebrations they host is the Walker Pickle Days. They host the event every year and every day they have different activities for the children and adults. The events can last up to one week. Some of the activities they have are tractor racing for kids, the mile run, and the 5k. They also have activity stations. Every station has different activities for kids to do. Another fundraiser they have is the fireman host a breakfast for everyone and on the last day of Pickle Days. They have a ton of fireworks let off by the fireman. Beuter also puts together parades in Walker and makes sure they are able to be in other town
