We experience this peace, this refuge, in the gift of grace we receive through Christ. God has given to us the gift of peace. As we continue to prepare for Christ’s birth, we do so in a world where this often seems like a distant dream.

Yet, we are the ones who have been given the gift of peace. We are called to be bearers of Christ’s peace out into the world. We are called to be places of refuge in the midst of storms. We are to be witnesses of this peace not only within our

John 17:14; “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” This scripture has impressed my mind when the stresses of the world apply their chokeholds and temptations. Never has it filled my mind as often, or sent more solace and strengthened reassurance than since I have been feasting on the teachings and examples of Christ in these four New Testament Gospels. My sister is an atheist.…

Jehovah Shalom is the God of peace who gives us; His children the perfect harmony and satisfaction in whatever we do if we ask Him. Since Jesus is a part of the Triune God-head, He is our Jehovah Shalom the Prince of Peace, and during His life on earth he has been through storms and has also had the power to conquer them in peace because of who He is and through His Father. Not only that, but He also desires to give us His peace that passeth all understanding. Jesus Christ is the only biblical character in whom one can find perfect peace because He is the Son of The One and Only True Living God, and He came down to this earth in obedience to His Father to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our (humans) sins (John 3:16). In response to…

The Principles of Catholic Social Thought There are nine essential principles that assist the Catholic Social Thought. These principles support a Catholic understanding of what the relationships with self, others and communities contribute to a “good life” in conjunction with human flourishment and the Golden Rule (Ethic of Reciprocity). Common Good and Community The ability to accept all as they are, for who they are, racially, nationally, physically, mentally and religiously is one of the key components to this principle. The line between peace and apathy is often very thin. In fact, on the surface it is very easy to confuse one state with the other, and the interpretation of our experience - as to whether we experience peace or apathy, depends upon the lenses through which we decide to judge ourselves. Peace (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/peace) is defined by feelings of being undisturbed, calm, composed, balanced, secure and patient. Apathy (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/apathy) is distinguished by not caring, feeling indifferent, neutral, unconcerned, emotionless and uninterested; from Greek - apathes “without suffering” As we can see, both mental states are quite similar and it often might be a little bit challenging to distinguish…

The notion of peace commonly refers to the freedom from disturbance and turmoil as well as tranquillity within society. Christianity’s understanding of worldly and individual peace continues to be communicated within the teachings of the Holy Bible, exclusively the New Testament. In a similar sense the Jewish interpretation of peace has been shaped by the various understandings and teachings found within the prophetic vision of peace on earth within the Torah, Talmud and Tenakh.
