Opponents contend that numerous people who are minimum wage workers consist of single mothers whose families depend on the pitiful pay as their only source of income. In the same article by Opposing Viewpoints he/she writes, “Opponents contend that most minimum wage workers are not trying to support themselves, but they are living in households where their living expenses are largely provided by their parents or spouses.” This connects to the main point because the person doesn’t necessarily require the increased pay because they are depended on others to cover their living expenses. I agree and disagree with this point to some extent because a teenager who gets a job for spare money doesn’t necessary needs the funds to support himself, he is purely working for himself and his living expenses are covered by his parents. I understand this must be considered but everybody who is currently an minimum wage worker doesn’t have their living expensive covered by another person. Their is not a problem highlighting different minimum wage workers but making a decision based off of an section of the population not needing the increased pay is not an good idea. People who oppose minimum wage laws often support their claims by highlighting different types of minimum wage workers who do not necessarily benefit from the
