Traditional Learning Research Paper

In this paper, there will be discussion of the pros and cons of learning in respect of tradition learning and adult learning. The traditional learning style is more appropriate for younger learners, and the adult learning style is primarily administered through on-line learning, which is geared towards adults. Each style of learning has advantages and disadvantages, but the most important aspect is understanding the most effective avenue for learning as an individual. There will be pros and cons for every aspect of learning, understanding how traditional learning is beneficial to some and adult learning is beneficial to others, is determined on an individual level, as it pertains to adult learners. In my organization of a virtual call-center, learning is consistent because of the constant changes in policies and procedures. The most thought provoking style of learning is the experiential learning that would be most effective in this type of environment. Experiential learning focuses on learning through experience, which involves a four-stage cycle (Chen, Jones, Moreland). The four-stage cycle consists of, concrete experience (when a learner encounters a new experience), reflective observation (using past experiences to perceive new experiences from different perspectives), then there is the abstract conceptualization (generating theories and solutions to new issues encountered), and last, active experimentation (testing and applying theories and solution previously generated) (Chen, Jones, Moreland). This correlates with four styles of learning: diverging, assimilating, converging and accommodating (C,J,M). As we know the traditional learning style is most used for younger learners (including those fresh into college), and the on-line or E-learning is the most common use of adutl learning. The most important aspect of the different learning styles, is understanding the effective avenue for learning, as an individual first then as a organization.
