New Age or Old Fashion Traditional cigarettes have been around for many years, with a wide variety to choose from. Cigarettes are sold on every corner. Seventeen point eight percent of Americans smoke cigarettes making the market profitable. Smokers try to quit all the time, but most start back smoking cigarettes. There are many ways for smokers to quit smoking cigarettes with nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and even classes to help stop smoking. Sometimes smokers will switch to lighter brands of cigarettes thinking they are weaning themselves off the addiction, but this never helps. In the early 2000’s Hon Lik, an inventor and smoker from Beijing, China invented the E-Cigarette, after his father who was a heavy smoker passed away from lung …show more content…
Acetone, carbon monoxide, and polonium are only three of over 4,000 harmful chemicals found in cigarettes. One major chemical that is harming people who smoke cigarettes are the carcinogenic chemicals from burning the tobacco, harming the lungs and body with every puff. E-cigarettes have three chemicals in the e-liquid propylene glycol, vegetable glycerol, and nicotine. Both propylene glycol and vegetable glycerol can be found in many different foods and drinks from ice cream to alcohol. These chemicals can even be found in medications and cosmetics. A large amount of propylene glycol can be harmful, but the amount in e-liquid is no more than found in foods and drinks. Nicotine is found both e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes, but the levels of nicotine vary. Different brands of cigarettes have different amounts of nicotine in them, ranging from 8mg to 20 mg per cigarette. Levels of nicotine in e-cigarettes vary also, but the smoker has the choice of what level they want. The e-liquid contends 0,3,6,12,18, or 24mg of nicotine, so the choices of having no nicotine and just having the feeling of the inhaling and exhaling the vapor is possible. Now here’s a little math for everyone, if a person smokes one to two packs a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year this will add up to a lot of money. It hurts the brain just thinking about it. The average cost of an e-cigarette is around 50 to 60 dollars to start up, and then they only needing to buy the e-liquid as needed. The e-liquid cost around 7 to 20 dollars for a 30ml bottle. These bottles will last for one week to two weeks depending on how much they are being used. The money being spent on cigarettes is a lot higher than the money being spent on e-cigarettes. Traditional cancer sticks and e-cigarettes both deliver a satisfying and relaxed feeling of nicotine, however an e-cigarette is a superior, more secure, and cost
