(Kirkland 22). There are over 6 branches that focus on different aspects that the community is in need of. In the low-income neighborhoods of Waco the YMCA focuses on afterschool care to keep the students out of trouble and give them a safe place to stay until their parents get home. In the nicer area of Waco the YMCA focuses highly on workout and wellness centers. The YMCA also offers a rehabilitation branch where they work with disabilities, helping people whom have been involved in a car accident or suffered through a stroke. (Kirkland 22). Another branch that the “Y” has to offer are sports programs for youth. These sport programs that the YMCA offers include; basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. By creating these facilities for recreation teams that the youth can participate in sports while build teamwork skills and staying active. (Kirkland 22).
