The Capitalist system is contradictory to the communist system because the main ideology behind capitalism is that the belief that there is nothing wrong with some people being rich and some people being poor. Democracy is a system of government based on the will of the people. It is a government for the people by the people in the form of their elected representatives. It therefore means the citizens of a country have the ability to choose their representative and to effectively take part in the decisions made on issues that affect them and society in general. [1] North Vietnam was communist while South Vietnam was democratic, with the South being defeated. Vietnam united under North Vietnams communist rule resulting in Vietnam today being communist. Thus the Vietnam War impacted Vietnam today politically.

Some of the soldiers also mistreated the Vietnamese because they felt that it was unfair that they were being drafted to go die for another country which was a reasonable feeling for them. After the war, children who were born during the war period and were half American and half Vietnamese were terribly mistreated because the Vietnam people hated how they were treated by some of the American soldiers before, and some of them said that those children inherit the bad personalities from their fathers who were American soldiers serving. Women who were married to Americans were also shunned. There was a strong sense of discrimination at that point. But things have gotten a lot better over the course of time. Four decades after the war, the discrimination against the half American half Vietnamese people (Amerasian) had faded, but they were still poorer than the average Vietnamese. This is also because of the times where they were discriminated against and not given jobs which led to their poverty today.
