New Nuclear Era or Continued Peace The world has seen the use of Nuclear Weapons only twice in combat, both uses were during World War 2 and used by and first developed by the United States. Since then the majority of dominant Nations have each amassed large quantities and stores of their own Nuclear weapons. Ranging from bombs, to Intercontinental Ballistic missiles, and MIRV’s or multiple independently target-able re-entry vehicles. Most countries of the world have some sort of nuclear weapon and yet we have remained civilized enough to this day to refrain from their use in war against each other. While the world made it through the Cold War with some very tense moments, a contemporary version of the conflict could be upon the world and United States now. A world with no nuclear weapons would be an ideal one, as would a world with no war. However as humans, that are constantly evolving and finding the newest, most deadly weapons that we can invent that world will likely never be a reality. Though removing land based missiles from America may be a viable option, there is no saying if Russia would follow suit, or keep their launch sites intact thus giving them a potential upper hand. Land based sites may be more easily attacked from an enemy, but if an enemy nation has come as far as attacking a launch site, it’s fair to assume use of nuclear weapons may already be occurring. And in that case even if all land based sites were lost, there would still be enough sea and air nukes.
