According to the law, a minor or a juvenile is anyone who is below the legal adult age of 21 years old. In 2012, the Supreme Court decreed that any juvenile that has committed a heinous crime, such as murder or rape, could not be sentenced to death or to life in prison. I am against the death sentence because I feel that taking ones life to justify another’s is morally repugnant. Even if all teenagers grow and mature at a different pace, I agree with the minority who argued to retain the nullification of mandatory life in prison. Not all minors that have committed murder are guilty, but those who are guilty should be qualified to receive a life sentence. The life sentence is imprisonment for life as a consequence for committing a felony.

The amount of money saved could be put towards a more useful cause such as crime prevention in which the crime and violence rates would furthermore be decreased.
Juveniles who are given the death sentence are sometimes wrongly convicted of the crime they were accused of. If the juvenile was put to death then an innocent life was wrongfully taken. With the life sentence, the juvenile’s case could be reevaluated; however, if the juvenile turns out to be innocent then the court could give them a less harsh punishment. They are given another chance to live, even if they are imprisoned, rather than being immediately out to death. Imagine all the young lives that could have unjustly been taken.
There are a great number of possible reasons why these juveniles commit these violent crimes. For example, there is depression, gang affiliation, terrorism, abuse, peer pressure, etc. Even if prison mostly sounds bad, in a way, the prisoners are allowed a chance to rebuild themselves. There are some programs offered in order to help prisoners recover and rehabilitate while in confinement. When prisoners are being behaved, they would get a good conduct report. At times, non-violent inmates may get offered a low paying that can help with their self-control and that can help them financially as
