This means, when and if marijuana is legalized nationwide the amount of trafficking, manufacturing, distributing and possession offenses will obviously dwindle down. By eliminating the vast majority of drug related crimes in our country we would not be sending individuals to jail to sit and eat up the tax dollars we pay in for something that seems so petty in a sense. The marijuana prohibition and the alcohol prohibition are very similar in this standpoint, instead of going to your bootlegger you only go see your “drug dealer” to get your hands on what has made illegal. After some thought, choosing the decriminalization model because this is a model compromised between legalization and prohibition. After many years of waging war on drugs, I do not see us really getting anywhere. This group could recommend treatment as well as present any minor fines. The main lesson to learn from decriminalizing drug doesn’t necessarily lead to disaster, and it does free up resources for more effective responses…

To form opinions about medical marijuana, or even recreational marijuana, I feel you have to know the history of how it became illegal. It all started in the early 1900’s just after the Mexican Revolution; Mexican immigrants started coming into the US into Texas and Louisiana. Since they started coming in, of course, they brought their customs with them. At this time cannabis was used for medicines and a relaxant. Mexican immigrants called the plant “marihuana” and since Americans weren’t familiar with the term, they became frightened.…
