Cocoa is a commodity that has been globally known for its addiction and desire. Specifically speaking, cocoa is the raw material that is extracted from beans that have been dried afterwards to get a powder like substance, which is then used to produce the famous “chocolate” (International Cocoa Organization (2014). With every natural resource there is the pros and cons that are associated with it. The same is embedded into cocoa. In this essay, the cons and negative aspects of cocoa will be mentioned with detail and examples alongside the globalization of cocoa. The world will eventually run out of cocoa because of reasons such as global warming which increases the price of cocoa.

The next part of the essay will talk about the globalization, desire and flow of cocoa. People enjoy to eat chocolate all over the world, but it is important to understand, that there is good and bad quality chocolate which refers back to cocoa production. Individuals pay for chocolate and quality chocolate is expensive. People consume chocolate because of a few reasons, which include addiction. Just like coffee, chocolate can be addictive and can start cravings. Last but not least, chocolate can have health benefits if produced with high quality materials. It can give energy; decrease stress and can help the human heart to pump better (Mathiesen, 2015). When these aspects are taken into consideration, addiction and desire take place. Chocolate has become a global figure of enjoyment and happiness. Whenever there is something to celebrate or in good times, chocolate comes into action. It is served in different forms, like bars, cakes, liquid and other deserts. The idea of something that cannot be possessed adds greater value.
