Take The Death Penalty

Having the right to kill someone for a crime that they had committed is tricky when it comes to giving that sentence. I believe that capital punishment is not a bad punishment, that for people who have committed murders, especially mass murderers, should be subjected to a sentence like capital punishment. Inmates who are serving life with no chance of parole, or any type of release should be either voted for or given the choice to take the death penalty. This way those people are not just sitting around waiting money. That might sound harsh and heartless, but prison is a place where people go to correct what they did wrong and then eventually get released. Those people that are in there for the rest if their lives have nothing to strive for and might as well not even think about what they had done and try to correct it. That is not to say that there are not people in prison who are sincerity sorry for what they had done and are stuck in there, but there is that possibility of those people who just don’t care about what they do anymore. A question that many might have regarding capital punishment is if it works at deterring crime? Studies conducted around the year 2012 have decided that there is not enough evidence, that the studies done are flawed and no conclusion …show more content…
He said that he was for the death penalty because the people who commit crimes violent and harsh enough to have that punishment considered they should not have a second chance at all. There is a lot of surveys that are showing that the support from the community concerning the death penalty are declining and more are in favor of life in prison (Support for Death Penalty in U.S. Falls to a 45-Year Low). This can be for many reasons, religion, ethics, and even morals. For some it can seem like the easy way out. Not having to serve the time for the crime and instead just taking the death penalty to “get out of

Capital punishment is the legally authorized killing of someone as punishment for a crime. The death penalty is a complex issue, and can understandably be argued from both sides, those opposing the death penalty, and those who feel capital punishment should still be an option. Capital punishment should be abolished because, people are capable of change, the penalty puts innocent lives at risk, and we pay millions for each death penalty case. Firstly, people are capable of change; in other words, the guilty adept to rehabilitation.…

Capital punishment has been used for many centuries to kill murderers or anyone who has committed a heinous crime. Although this may sound like a good thing, the trial errors are catastrophic. A judge and a jury are the ones to decide if a defendant gets the death penalty or a noncapital punishment. A defendant on trial for this certain punishment, does not get most of their rights of an American citizen. Congress should reconsider capital punishment as unconstitutional because of the amount of money used (1), the racial biases (2), the methods of death (3), and the people who are not being given the freedom of cruel and unusual punishment (4).…

While the counter argument to this is that some rights should be taken, but to kill another human being is not the only form of punishment. Once a life is taken, it cannot be returned, it’s a dark road that has no return. Some state that imprisonment does nothing to deter the next crime of committing that same crime. So sense the argument finds that life imprisonment seem to be a sensible punishment. While the death penalty is far too harsh because of its finality.…

In conclusion, death penalty should be abolished as it takes too much money, executes innocent lives, and does not give a chance to the criminals to reform. The death penalty is also inhumane as one is killing another individual. By killing the criminal, there is no difference between the criminal and the government, as both of them are taking life of individuals. Instead of killing people, the criminals should be sentenced for life in prison and should bear the consequences of their…

I agree that the cost of having someone on the death penalty and putting someone through it is very expensive but for a the victims families it can be the only form of closure available to them. The death penalty is also said to be too “harsh” of a punishment but I think if a criminal murders someone or rapes someone then that is totally justifiable for the death penalty. Of course the extra time and ridiculous cost of the death penalty is frowned upon, but I do think that the version of the death penalty can be vastly improved…

Capital punishment has always been a subject that people normally do not like to talk about because people, especially the government, knows that capital punishment is an unconstitutional cruel and unusual idea. Capital punishment should be used by states to execute a prisoner, given that the evidence that is against them is substantial enough and beyond a doubt calls for a death sentence. Even though capital punishment is rare and slowly decreasing (Source A), the fact that it continues to exist is the general problem with it. Capital punishment itself would go against the 8th Amendment, saying that “…cruel and unusual punishments [would not be] inflicted” and the fact that the American government would overlook this very clear part of the Constitution is very worrisome because they could do this with many other Amendments. In my opinion, capital punishment is unjustified in every way and should not exist because the best substitute for capital punishment is lifetime in prison provided with rehabilitation options for the guiltily…

According to article Capital punishment states, “some crimes are so heinous and inherently wrong that they demand strict penalties—up to and including life sentences or even death," (par,8). They believe that the death penalty is effective and preventive to violent crime because criminals will now think twice before committing a murder. " Recent investigations, using a variety of samples and statistical methods, consistently demonstrate a strong link between executions and reduced murder rates," (capital, par.10). They believe having the inmate sit in jail is too expensive because it cost taxpayers “$31,286” per inmate annually (capital, par…

All lives matter. It is not up to us to make decision whether one’s life has to live or die, but I believe that justice should be served and if a person murders an innocent person, he/she should pay the price at the cost of his/her own life. According to Utilitarianism, most people would agree because it would only promote overall goodness. It would lessen the violence and the killings of innocent people if the criminal is put down instead of just being locked in a jail cell.…

I have always thought I was for the death penalty. I feel if you do something horrible, you don’t deserve to live, and I always assumed it would cost us less money than having someone incarcerated for the rest of their life. Capital punishment should be abolished because it is too expensive to retain, it is revenge not justice, and it 's possible for innocent people to be executed. The execution of human life should not be something we advocate here in the United States, it’s sad that as a nation we preach peace while still executing our citizens. The millions of dollars being wasted on executions could be spent improving our criminal justice system, and in doing so, improve our country. Not only is the death penalty a waste of our hard earned tax dollars, but it also puts innocent lives at risk. Mistreated or mishandled evidence can easily put an innocent life on death row.…

The first reason capital punishment should be abolished is it is barbaric, for instance, prisoners are injected with chemicals, much like an animal is when it is euthanized. When a human being is executed in the same manner as an animal it makes a statement of how society values human life. Humans deserve rehabilitation and forgiveness because all are capable of these things all should be given every opportunity to utilize these capabilities, before being put down as if that was beyond possibilities. Speaking of possibilities, the second reason the death penalty is barbaric, there are recorded cases of innocent people being executed according to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, “four percent of prisoners sentenced to…
