Is Technology Taking Over Our Society? Over the past several years, technology is becoming more and more prevalent in everyday life. Advancements in technology have and are making the lives of people simpler and more efficient. Through its use, individuals are taking advantage of technology in society and in school. More and more schools are incorporating technology in classrooms, such as permitting students to use laptops to do research, write papers, or take notes and having projectors to display the teacher's works easier. Technology allows people to transfer ideas and knowledge instantaneously. New inventions and advancements in society are made with technology each and every day. At the rate at which technology is expanding, it is easy to fear that society is overly dependent on technology. However, the massive benefits humans gain from technology outweighs any real social threats it might pose. Technology is a crucial part of people’s lives for its continuing advancements in education and developments in society, but despite all the benefits of technology, some people believe that individuals are becoming too reliant on technology.
The advancement of technology has and will continue to improve the way people teach and learn. Technology is becoming more prevalent in school to help students learn. Some schools even provide laptops for the students to use in class to allow the students to have a more comfortable and productive learning experience. People use technology to make fuel that can be used to run machines and make cars. Based on the article, “Technology and Society- Impact of Technology on Society,” by Karehka Ramey, it states that technology has upgrade transportation by advancing all the four types of transportation: road transportation, air transportation, water transportation, and space transportation (Ramey). These methods of transportation allow people to move from one area to another and transport goods more efficiently. Technology has also helped in ways people communicate with each other. Using electronic medias such as, radios, televisions, the internet, and social media has improved the way people exchange ideas which can develop societies (Ramey). Smartphones allow people to send and receive messages at near the speed of light and also allow a connection to the world wide web. People can obtain information on the internet within a matter of seconds due to these advancements in technology. Technology also benefits society by using modern agricultural technology that allows a small number of people to grow vast quantities of food in a short period of time with less input (Ramey).
