The Pros And Cons Of Tattoos

What would you say if your teen wanted a tattoo? Would you say yes, or would you disagree and not understand why they’d want to make that choice? Most adolescents see a tattoo as a way to express themselves and their personality, or interests. Minors should be allowed to get tattoos with their parents consent, because if their parent will allow and give permission to their child to receive a permanent mark on their body the choice should be theirs, but of course if their parent will also approve of their decision. Even though it is a choice between the child, and their parent there is certainly downfalls and risks that can follow with getting ink, and especially the judgement from society. Over the years tattoos have become an enormous interest, and especially in the last recent years. (Kuhn) In addition the younger generations don’t see a tattoo as an exception anymore. Tattoos are more known as a normal thing these days. (Kuhn) Seen on the popular people who they may admire or look up too such as on soldiers, pop stars, sport heroes, rap artists, and so many more. (Kuhn) Other risks that may come from getting a tattoo may be having an allergic reaction from the dyes which can cause the skin to get a rash, and very itchy, and this can even occur years after receiving the tattoo. Another problem that can occur with getting a tattoo might be getting granulomas which are bumps that start around the tattooed area on the skin. The scar tissue can overgrow and later turn into keloids. Finally, another complication from getting a tattoo may cause burning and swelling in areas where the ink is during a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and can affect the quality of the MRI photo.
