American students are millions of dollars in debt, but free education is not the correct answer. Sanders has created a proposal for free education and he plans on using federal funds to cover the tuition of public schools (Feldman & Archibald, 2016). In 2016, the United States exceeded $19 trillion dollars of debt, which is officially the most ever recorded in history (Boccia, 2016). I would like Mr. Sanders to explain how exactly he plans on using federal funds that are already $19 trillion dollars in debt to pay for millions of college students’ tuition. Funding is not the only crisis that comes along with free college tuition. Where will we be able to find unskilled workers? There are hundreds of thousands of jobs in the United States that require unskilled workers; if everyone has a college degree, there will be no one to fill those job openings. There will be hundreds of thousands of unskilled labor openings throughout America, but those with a college degree will be struggling to find work. The skilled labor field is already flooded, and if you offer free education to become a skilled laborer, the skilled laborer field will be a large mashed mess. In a socialist economy you can ensure increased productivity because you are avoiding the wastes of competition and working together to conduct research of production processes (Chand, 2015). Production efficiency will also increase because only goods needed for the basic wants of people, such as cheaper food, clothing, and housing, will be produced. The luxury wants of citizens will no longer be produced. Along with economic efficiency comes free health amenities.
