In the year 2016, The United States has become known as the land of equal opportunity and ability, yet we still seem to be stuck in the dark ages when it comes to opposite gender sex crimes. In a world of he said-she said ordeals where more often than not "she said" is found to be the "truth." I stand alone a young man accused of sexual assault at a forward thinking, Catholic University where the odds are exceedingly slim to roll my way when my way is the true way. Life, since this news surfaced, has been quite peculiar. My whole life seems to be not real, the fact that from what my own eyes can see that this is a standard case of "he said-she said" where, although what I am professing is the truth I am seen as a monster for actions I did not commit. Since this accusation has surfaced, I have reconsidered everything about my life, my morals and my standing as a human being. I found myself contesting myself and the values I abide by because of this situation where I am not responsible for the actions the other party proclaims I am. The cost of being falsely accused of sexual assault are sometimes unbearable. Reputation and perception of mine are two things that will never be the same. In short, the purpose of this piece was to attempt to inform and aid others who may be in the dark when it comes to this sticky situation.
